TAMERLAN IS A SUFI, A KNIGHT OF PURITY. MAN. MYTH. LEGEND. EVERYTHING YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT TIMUR

I imagine a portrait of Tamerlan and a story about him. My story is about a great outstanding personality, about the ruler and commander, conqueror of 3 worlds, Sohib Kiran, the owner, a happy combination of stars, a Paladin, a light knight of Islam, an iron Chrome-Timur. Tamerlan is remembered as the conqueror who leveled ancient cities, destroyed entire Nations. And few people remember that he was a patron of the arts, literature and architecture, was friends with the great sages of the East and was on the same foot with the rulers of Europe. He built schools-madrassas all over Asia. He worshipped science and knowledge, the wisdom of Sufis and was himself a Sufi, a man of faith and knowledge. A very complex personality, around which an unimaginable number of myths and legends, parables and legends are built. Tamerlan’s life continues to interest us six centuries after his death. I painted this portrait a long time ago, so I saw it… It does not look like I have a terrible evil conqueror. Although it makes no sense to say that he was a kind and gracious ruler of the world. And yet… I saw him different… bright, Sunny, shining and very beautiful and powerful. And I do not want to talk about his dark side of personality, about the horrors that he imposed on his enemies and how many countries and peoples he conquered and conquered, and how many left behind mountains of skulls (which, by the way, have not been found) this is all you can hear in numerous films about Timur, made under one carbon copy. I will tell you about his bright part of the personality, what I saw. For me he is an amazing person, a mystery, a mystic, a myth, a legend.
